Lancaster Solar Farm
EPES Ltd engineers are experienced in working on renewable energy projects— from solar farms and energy-centre builds to battery processing plants.
One of our most significant contributions was supporting Vital Energi during Lancaster University’s £57M decarbonisation programme — one of the largest university-led sustainability schemes in the country. EPES played a key role in the electrical installation phases of the 11.5MW solar farm, new low-carbon energy centre and campus-wide district heating upgrades.
Our on-site responsibilities:
- Installing new electrical supplies for relocated and temporary systems
- Delivering power distribution and cabling to support solar infrastructure
- Operating MEWPs safely using our IPAF-qualified engineers
- Maintaining controlled and segregated work areas on a live campus
- Working around staff, students and vehicle movements without disruption
- Completing full risk assessments, method statements and safety documentation
- Coordinating closely with Vital Energi and university estates teams
Despite the university remaining fully operational throughout construction, EPES delivered safe, compliant and efficient electrical installations — helping ensure the project progressed on schedule and without interruption.
